Import a Component

Use Import Component to create a component from a published DPP, for example a DPP that your supplier published. The component gets its values from the source DPP and keeps them in sync. When a value changes in the source DPP, the component shows the new value automatically.

tip

Import Component is available only if the feature is enabled for your organisation and you have permission to create components.

Steps

  1. Open Components.
  2. Click Import Component.
  3. In the Select Template dialog, select a component family and a template, and then click Next.
  4. In Add Component Details, enter the Source DPP URL of the published DPP.
  5. Enter a Component Name.
  6. Click Save.

Map the source fields

An imported component has two tabs: General and Mapping.

  • General shows the component values. Values that come from the source DPP are read-only.
  • Mapping connects the fields of the source DPP to the fields of your component template. Map every required field, and then click Save.

When the source DPP is not available

If the source DPP is deleted, unpublished, or cannot be reached, the component shows a warning. The values on the component can then be incomplete. To change which values the component shows, edit the mapping.
